Paris, TX, June 4, 2007 -- The Red River Valley Down Syndrome Society will host a conference that focuses on Down syndrome on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Aikin Elementary School in Paris.
The 1st annual H.E.R.O. Conference (Hope, Education, Resources, Opportunities) is a one-day conference featuring a wide range of speakers and topics relating to Down syndrome.
Topics include inclusion, parenting, handwriting, Brain Gym, reading programs, medical concerns and guidelines, transition services and programs, post-secondary education options, and learning strategies. A master session will be held during the event featuring Marth Vincent (Region VIII Education Service Center) speaking on Down syndrome and the brain.
The conference is free, but registration is required as seating is limited. All interested in Down syndrome or other disabilities (either personally or professionally) are invited to attend.
Teachers may receive continuing education credits for attending.
