Bonham, Texas -- Credit Union of Texas (CUTX) proudly hosted its inaugural Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Bonham Baseball Complex, bringing together local first responders, community members, and supporters for an exciting afternoon of friendly competition, camaraderie, and giving back.

The tournament was organized by Credit Union of Texas to benefit the Fannin County Family Crisis Center, a local nonprofit organization providing critical services and support to individuals and families experiencing domestic violence and other crisis situations.
The event featured four teams competing throughout the afternoon, with the Bonham ISD Police Department taking home the championship title!
Spectators gathered to cheer on their favorite teams, enjoy the games, and show their support for a meaningful cause. The tournament showcased the generosity, teamwork, and community spirit that make Fannin County such a special place.

"One of my favorite things about working in community engagement is having the opportunity to bring people together for something bigger than ourselves," said Mallory McBroom, Community Engagement Officer for Credit Union of Texas. "This was our very first Battle of the Badges tournament, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! Seeing everyone come together, have fun, and support the Fannin County Family Crisis Center made all the hard work worthwhile. We've learned so much from this first year, and I'm already excited about making next year's tournament even bigger and better!"

Credit Union of Texas extends its heartfelt appreciation to the participating teams, volunteers, and everyone who attended or contributed to making the tournament a success.
Following the positive response to this year's event, CUTX plans to make Battle of the Badges an annual tradition, continuing to strengthen community relationships while supporting important local causes.
