Bonham, Texas – With the arrival of cooler weather and back to school, activities at the Creative Arts Center have picked up for the fall.
The October art show theme is Farm Life. The opening reception is set for Friday, Oct 2, come and go from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the center and is graciously sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance. Dr. Trina Harlow will be having a solo show called The Artist Garden in the East Gallery this month too. All are invited to come see the artwork, visit with artists and enjoy light refreshments at the opening reception. Artwork will be up and available for viewing and/or purchase throughout the month of October whenever the center is open.
The center continues to offer many art classes for kids and adults. The next Brush & Brunch with JayeBella is set for Oct 6 from 11 am to 3 pm. Watercolors with Chris Cravens will be on Thursday, Oct 29 from 1-3 pm. Dean Todd will teach oil painting on Oct 9. JayeBella will lead a paint party for kids on Oct 24 and for adults on Sunday, Oct 25. Jessie Bryant will lead an adult paint party on Oct 20 from 6-8:30 pm.
On Thursday, Oct 22, Sip & Stitch will be held from 6-8 pm and Poetry at the Neighbors Place Winery will be from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Mixed Media and Music will be on Oct 23 from 1-3 pm. Junk Journal Club will meet on Oct 21 and Oct 31. The next Artist Get Together is set for Oct 30 from 1-3 pm. Tammy Mize is leading 5 Card Draw on Oct 1 from 6-8 pm. This class involved drawing 5 cards from a special deck, then creating a drawing or painting with those 5 elements in your artwork. Denise Morrow will teach Art Journal Mixed Media on Oct 29 from 10 am to 12:30 pm.
Tuesday afternoon classes for young people will be held at 4 pm on Oct 13, 20 & 27. Kids ages 4-9 meet with Jaye and Kids 10 and up meet with Sandy. Advanced registration is required for these classes.
A book club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm, with the next meeting being on Oct 8. The next Mahjong at the art center will be Oct 1 from 6-8 pm and beginners are welcome.
The center hosts weekly yoga classes on Tuesdays at 6 pm and chair yoga on Wednesdays at 1 pm. Belly Dancing classes will be held from 6-7 pm on Sept 30 and October 14, 21 & 28.
The center hosts a farmers market every other Saturday from April through October. Upcoming market days include Oct 3, 17 & 31. The market runs from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and includes vendors inside and outside the center. In case of inclement weather, the market often moves completely inside. On Oct 3, the hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and include extra local artists who will be set up and selling inside.
