State and local candidates will join voters at the historic Lucy Kidd-Key Auditorium on Sept. 14, 7:00 pm.

Sherman, Texas -- Democratic candidates for state and federal office will come together for a joint campaign rally on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at the historic Lucy Kidd-Key Auditorium: Jason Pearce, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives; Judge Holly Taylor, candidate for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals; and former Justice Amanda Reichek and Judge Monica Purdy, candidates for the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals; and Catherine Thorne, candidate for Texas House District 62. Other candidates will join as available or are sending representatives to speak on their behalf.

The rally will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Kidd-Key Auditorium, 400 N. Elm St. in Sherman. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., allowing attendees to meet the candidates, connect with fellow Democrats and learn how they can get involved ahead of the November general election.

The event will offer North Texas voters a rare opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking statewide, congressional and judicial offices. Speakers will discuss the issues affecting Texas families, share the experience and qualifications they bring to their races, and outline their plans to provide responsible, people-centered leadership.

Featured participants include:

Holly Taylor, candidate for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 9

Jason Pearce, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, District 4

Amanda Reichek, candidate for the Fifth Court of Appeals

Monica Purdy, candidate for the Fifth Court of Appeals

Catherine Thorne, candidate for Texas House District 62

Kendall Scudder, chair of the Texas Democratic Party

Michael Tijerina, Democratic State Executive Committee member for Congressional District 4

Scudder and Tijerina will serve as emcees for the evening. Some candidates will send spokespersons. The rally will be enlightening and energizing. A Q&A will be held starting at approximately 8:15.

“At a time when our rights, our freedoms and the economic security of working families are under attack, North Texans deserve the opportunity to hear directly from the people asking for their votes,” Mr. Tijerina said. “This rally is about bringing Democrats together, building lasting connections and showing voters that they have strong candidates ready to fight for them at every level of government.”

The rally will focus on building a Texas in which every person can afford to live, work and raise a family with dignity. Speakers are expected to address public education, healthcare, voting rights, reproductive freedom, economic opportunity, government accountability and equality for every Texan.

“With races tightening across Texas, this rally reflects the growing importance of North Texas to Democratic campaigns at the federal, statewide and regional levels,” said Ms. Rush. “Candidates will address the rising cost of living and the need to invest in public education, healthcare, water, energy and other essential infrastructure. They will discuss protecting democracy and restoring independence, integrity and public confidence in the Texas justice system.”

The event is open to Democrats, independents and all North Texans who want to learn more about the candidates seeking to represent their communities. Representatives of community organizations and members of the news media are also encouraged to attend.
