Fannin County, Texas -- Four delegates from Fannin County traveled to Corpus Christi to represent local Democrats at the 2026 Texas Democratic Convention, joining thousands of delegates from across the state for three days of party business, policy discussions, candidate speeches, and grassroots organizing. The convention brought together more than 5,000 Democrats from every corner of Texas to prepare for the November elections and adopt the party's platform.

Representing Fannin County were Bill Roberts, Brenda Davis, Sandra Miller, and Jessica Neely who were selected during the county convention held earlier this year. Their participation ensured that the voices of rural Northeast Texas were included in statewide discussions on education, health care, infrastructure, economic development, and voting rights.

The delegates carried with them the legacy of one of Texas' most respected public servants, Sam Rayburn, whose longtime home near Bonham remains a symbol of principled leadership and public service. Rayburn, the longest-serving Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, was known for his commitment to rural Texas, bipartisan cooperation, and the belief that government should improve the lives of everyday Americans. His home in Fannin County continues to remind Texans of the county's significant place in the state's political history.

Throughout the convention, delegates attended general sessions featuring Democratic leaders from Texas and across the nation, participated in caucus meetings, and voted on party business. The gathering also provided opportunities to network with activists, elected officials, and community leaders working to strengthen Democratic organizations throughout the state.

For Fannin County Democrats, attending the state convention represented more than a political event—it was an opportunity to ensure that rural communities remain part of the conversation as Texas continues to grow and change. By participating in the convention, the county's delegates helped shape the direction of the Texas Democratic Party while honoring a tradition of civic engagement that stretches back generations.

From the home of Sam Rayburn to the convention halls of Corpus Christi, Fannin County continues to demonstrate that even smaller rural counties have an important voice in the future of Texas politics.
