Avelo has announced nonstop flights from DTX to the following cities: Las Vegas, Nevada; and Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa, Florida.
The carrier will operate on Wednesdays through Mondays from DTX, with the inaugural flights scheduled to begin on November 11, giving travelers the opportunity to plan a multi-day getaway over the Veterans Day holiday.
"The City of McKinney welcomes Avelo Airlines and the exciting new nonstop service it will provide from McKinney National Airport,” said City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox. “As growth continues to reshape North Texas, McKinney is playing an increasingly important role in the region’s future. This new service reflects the demand for convenient air travel closer to home and reinforces McKinney’s position as a destination for residents, businesses, and investment.”
“We would like to thank the Avelo Airlines team for their confidence in our regional market and for choosing to invest in McKinney National Airport,” Cox added.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We are very excited to be the anchor tenant and launch airline at McKinney National Airport, introducing nonstop service to popular destinations including Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), Fort Myers (RSW) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). We believe our everyday low fares, convenient and reliable service, combined with an easy-to-use, small airport, will resonate with North Texas travelers.”
"We are also proud to base two aircraft at DTX, reflecting our long-term commitment to the region," Levy continued. "This investment will drive meaningful job creation and economic development, bringing well over 100 new jobs to the area. As a proud Texas company, we are excited to grow our presence just a few hours north of our Houston home. McKinney is a community on the rise, and we're proud to be its hometown airline."
Avelo’s flight schedule from DTX will be as follows:

McKinney National Airport will be one of five Avelo Airlines’ national crew bases. In addition to basing aircraft at DTX, the airline’s base in McKinney is expected to generate career opportunities for locals, including pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, baggage handlers, and gate agents. These people investments will create regional economic benefits as Avelo employees and contractors will be working, living, and spending in their local community.
Avelo’s launch of flights at DTX is the same day the airport will open its newly constructed, 46,000-square-foot passenger terminal to the public. Located at 1910 FM 546, McKinney, TX, the terminal is expected to be completed in November 2026.
DTX’s modern, efficient, and accessible terminal will initially offer four boarding gates with the ability to expand to six gates. The terminal will also include centralized food and beverage concessions; spacious, open hold rooms for passenger comfort; a 980-space public parking lot; and onsite car rental facilities and ground transportation services.
“I am proud to share that years of planning, partnership, and hard work will come to fruition in November 2026, which is when we will open a brand-new passenger terminal and welcome Avelo Airlines to McKinney National Airport,” said McKinney National Airport Director of Aviation Ken Carley. “I am deeply grateful to the many individuals, partners and agencies whose dedication made this milestone possible.”
“For North Texas travelers, this means more choice and the opportunity to begin their journey closer to home. We are excited to deliver a travel experience that saves time, expands options, and better serves the needs of our growing region,” Carley continued.
Information about commercial service operations at McKinney National Airport can be found using the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code DTX. When booking flights from and to McKinney National Airport, DTX will appear on airline websites and booking portals, boarding passes and checked-baggage tags, and on travel itinerary emails and receipts.
