Creative Arts Center celebrates 25 years!

Bonham, Texas – The Creative Arts Center is proud to celebrate their 25th anniversary on Friday, June 5.  Community members are invited to the celebration at the art center at a come and go reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  There will be new artwork to view and purchase in the galleries, plus a special historical exhibition of the art center in the East Gallery.  Guests can visit with many of the local artists and other guests. Light refreshments, including cupcakes will be provided.

A new patriotic, collaborative crazy quilt that was created by 8 women will be displayed starting this month too.  Raffle tickets for the quilt will be sold for $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  The drawing will be held at the end of the Quilt Hop and Fiber Arts Show on Saturday, July 25 at 4 pm.  Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. The art center will be one of about a dozen stops for the Quilt Hop and Fiber Arts Show that will be on July 24 and 25.

Kidz Krew is the children’s theatre program which will be hosting auditions for their next production on June 4 from 4-6 pm.  Children ages 8 and up are encouraged to participate, even if they have no previous theatre experience.  The production will be Robin Hood as written by Lisa Avila and revised and edited by Kelly Bazan.  Practices will be during June and July.  Performances will be July 31, Aug 1, 2, 7, 8 & 9.

Valerie Pollock will be teaching Beginning Beading for ages 12-17 on June 30 and Beginning Crochet for ages 7-17 on Jun 9, 11, 16 & 18. She is also teaching a class for youth ages 12-17 in how to use their sewing machine.

The center also offers many classes for adults. Learn to use Gel Plates with Wanda Oliver will be held on June 12 from 10 am to 4 pm.   

Watercolors with Chris Cravens will be on Thursday, June 18 from 1-3 pm.

Oil Painting with Dean Todd will be on Saturday, June 20 from 10 am to noon. 

JayeBella will lead an acrylic paint party on Sunday, June 28 from 2-5 pm.

Jessie Bryant is hosting a Freedom Eagle Paint Party from 6-8:30 pm on Tuesday, June 30 in celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary.

Janey Lynn will be teaching a class on creating butterflies and flowers from fabric on June 13 from 10 am to noon and basic string beading on June 19 from 10 am to noon.

On Thursday, June 18, Sip & Stitch will be held from 6-8 pm and Poetry at the Art Center will be from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. 

Mixed Media and Music will be on Saturday, June 27 from 10 am to noon. 

 Junk Journal Club will meet on June 17 from 2-4 pm.  

The next Artist Get Together is set for June 19 from 1-3 pm. 

A book club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 2 pm, with the next meeting being on June 11. Mahjong at the art center is held on the first Thursday of each month from 6-8 pm and beginners are welcome at the next session on June 4.

The center hosts weekly yoga classes on Tuesdays at 6 pm and chair yoga on Wednesdays at 1 pm. This summer, there will also be four belly dance classes offered from 6-7 pm on June 17 & 24 and July 1 & 15.

The center hosts a Farmers Market every other Saturday from April through October.  Upcoming market days include June 13 and 27.  The market runs from 9 am to 1 pm and is usually outside in the parking lot.  In case of inclement weather, the market often moves inside.
