Sherman, Texas -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials have announced an upcoming frontage road closure and detour for travelers in Sherman. The work to switch traffic onto the new northbound frontage roads between SH-91 and Lamberth Road will begin at 8 p.m. Oct. 12, until 5 a.m. Oct. 13. Beginning around 8 p.m. on Oct. 12, until 5 a.m. Oct. 13, the southbound frontage road between Lamberth Drive and Taylor Street will be closed. A detour will be in place to facilitate the traffic switch and allow crews to open additional work areas in this section of the project.
Additionally, beginning around 8 p.m. on Oct. 13, until 5 a.m. Oct. 14, the southbound frontage road between Lamberth Drive and Taylor Street will be closed, and a detour in place, to allow crews to complete paving not accessible in the current phase of work. These closures are part of TxDOT’s ongoing efforts to enhance roadway safety and efficiency in the area.
Motorists intending to continue south on the SBFR from Lamberth Drive will be detoured to turn right onto Lamberth, then take the first left onto North Travis Street. From there, drivers can access the southbound frontage road again by turning left at Taylor Street.
During this period, TxDOT urges drivers to exercise caution. Motorists who travel frequently in this area are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems. TxDOT also asks drivers to pay close attention to all traffic controls and remain alert to road crews while navigating through the construction zone.
