Bonham, Texas -- The Blue Ridge Lady Tigers held off Bonham to clinch the district championship on Monday.
Bonham hit a double in the top of the fifth for the first run of the game. The Lady Tigers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring 5 runs on four hits to take a 5-2 lead. The biggest blow was a triple by Miranda Caro that drove in two.
Izzy Jackson earned the win surrendering five hits and 2 runs (one unearned) over seven innings, striking out 9 and walking none.
The Lady Tigers piled up 12 hits with Caro going 2-4 at the plate and batting in two runs. Destiny Lanier led the team going 3-4 and Karley Rowe with 2 hits.
Lady Tigers end the season with an overall record of 22-3 and a district record of 10-2. They outscored their opponents 266-66 and never allowed double digit runs.
Lady Tigers begin their best of 3 series against #4 seed Edgewood starting Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Game 2 will be on Friday at 8 and Game 3 ( If needed) on Saturday at 6:30. All games will be played at Lone Oak High School.
