Be part of "our" world as Theater For Hope holds auditions for the musical, The Little Mermaid.  Auditions will be held Tuesday, April 23 and call-backs on Thursday, April 25 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hope on Houston 901 E. Houston Street Sherman, TX.

The Little Mermaid will mark Theater For Hope’s seventh production over the past two years performed at Hope on Houston in conjunction with the Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas, the Art Club Studio, and Sherman Now, but this will be the first production where Theater For Hope is a newly organized and designated 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization.

Theater For Hope’s mission is and has been since it started to provide a family-friendly environment where the youth of our community can learn and develop their love and appreciation, as well as their skills and interests for the theater and the performing arts.

Performances of Theater For Hope’s The Little Mermaid will be June 6, 7, 8 and is sponsored by Noteworthy Repairs.

Auditions are open to anyone who desires to come and take part in Theater For Hope’s mission for our community.

The audition process will consist of filling out an audition form, selecting and preparing one-minute’s worth of a song to sing (an accompanist will be provided if needed), and then reading a part or two from the script.  Rehearsals will be for six weeks in the evenings and some mornings on Saturdays.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."

Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

There are 12 to over 20 parts available for those around age 9 to adults with an equal number of men and women’s roles.

Don’t be one of the “Poor Unfortunate Souls” who might miss out by not being at auditions Tuesday, April 23 or call-backs Thursday, April 25.

HOPE to see you at the theater!
