Bonham, Texas -- Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Bonham invites you to join us for Shrove Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

We celebrate Shrove Tuesday (February 13th) with a pancake dinner the day before Ash Wednesday. We celebrate Lent as the season of the 40 days and 40 nights our Lord spent in the wilderness. As Episcopalians, we will focus on drawing closer to God with an emphasis on prayer and simplicity. The word shrove is a form of the English word shrive, which means to give absolution for someone's sins by way of Confession and doing penance. Thus Shrove Tuesday was named after the custom of Christians to be "shriven" before the start of Lent. Originally, it was a service of confession. This has largely been omitted in modern practice, where it has been replaced with a subdued celebration before the austerities of  Lent.

We are located at 7th and Star Streets in Bonham, Texas.
