McKinney hires Parks and Recreation Director

Amy Kinkade brings more than 25 years of municipal experience to the city

McKinney, Texas (March 13, 2024) – The City of McKinney has announced the appointment of Amy Kinkade as Director of Parks and Recreation. Kinkade has more than 25 years of municipal government experience and began her tenure with the city on March 11.

Kinkade most recently served as the Parks and Recreation Assistant Director in Irving, Texas, where she assisted in managing an operating budget of more than $21 million and 143 parks employees. Kinkade played a pivotal role in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategic plan for the department, including the construction of aquatic and multi-generational facilities and significant enhancements to the city's trails, parks, and athletic fields.

Kinkade also has extensive experience managing large-scale festivals and events, such as GrapeFest and Main Street Fest, for the City of Grapevine, Texas, and served as a Recreation Superintendent for the City of Duncanville, Texas.

Kinkade holds professional affiliations with the Texas Recreation and Parks Society, the National Recreation and Park Association, and the Dallas Fort Worth Parks and Recreation Directors Association. She has a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
