The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of Sandy Barber to the Board of Directors. Sandy is no stranger to the Board, as she has been advising them for several years.
Sandy, a graduate of Martin High School in Arlington and Austin College in Sherman, came to Bonham as the Executive Director of the Fannin County Children's Center in 2001. She and her family moved to Bonham in 2002. Sandy served the organization for 22 years. She is now the Director of the Creative Arts Center.
Sandy founded and headed up the "Great Day of Service" in Bonham. She is a past President of the Bonham Rotary Club. She was a founding board member of the Fannin Health Clinic and serves on the Bonham Education Foundation. Many Bonham Graduates have the famous purple blankets given for excellence in grades. She is an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Bonham.
Sandy has received many honors and awards over the years she has been in Bonham. The one she is proudest to accept was the Athena Leadership Award, given by Austin College for being an outstanding female leader. She has also been Bonham Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year and TCOG's Regional Citizen of the Year.
The Board also is pleased to announce that Bruce McAnally has been elected as an Advisory Director. Bruce, a 1972 graduate of Bonham High School, was the starting quarterback of the Fighting Purple Warriors. Bruce went to TCU and is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Bruce is a Registered Pharmacist and now owns several pharmacies in the North Texas area, including Bonham Family Drug.
Bruce previously served on the Board of banks in Princeton and McKinney. He currently also serves on the Board of First Guaranty Bank.
