Durant, Oklahoma -- The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) will be hosting a beekeeping workshop at the Choctaw Nation Durant Community Center on January 6, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Participants will learn beekeeping basics including how to get started, best practices, and general pollinator knowledge. The workshop is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Patrick Tickel has been working with bees since he was 10 years old. As an instructor, member of 5 local beekeeping clubs, an officer of the Oklahoma State Beekeepers Association, and a delegate of the American Beekeepers Association, his classes focus on translating passion into proven beekeeping techniques and practices based on science. He manages his own business, TICKELBEES, with 40 hives selling honey, wax, and bees.
Topics will include what to expect when starting your beekeeping journey, tips on how to care for the hives during every season, pesticides bees may encounter in the environment, and pollinator plants.
