Mesa Verde is located in Montezuma County, Colorado.
The site was established as a park in 1906 by Congress and President Theodore Roosevelt and occupies 52,485 acres.

Mesa Verde is Spanish for "green table", or "green table mountain". For over 700 years, the Ancestral Pueblo people built thriving communities on the mesas and in the cliffs of Mesa Verde.

The Pueblo people survived using a combination of hunting, gathering, and subsistence farming of crops such as corn, beans, and squash. (also known as the "Three Sisters")

We look forward to sharing our knowledge with our members and welcome all persons interested in the history of Grayson County, State of Texas and other sites. For ones interested our membership fee is $15 per person and $25 for a family starting this new year. During our meeting we have our interesting presentation and afterward we share a light buffet furnished by our members.

Information for our new friends, the Grayson County Historical Society has been active since 1961.

Our meeting time is the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. with our doorman, Gerald Alblas, opening about 6:10.  Our location is Frontier Village in the Judge Vaughan Room located at Loy Lake, Hwy 75 exit 61.  Everyone is welcome!
