Denison, Texas – TxDOT’s Travel Information Center on US 75 north of Denison will host a holiday impaired driving prevention safety event from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dec. 15.

TxDOT personnel, local law enforcement representatives and first responders will be on hand to share the dangers and legal consequences of drinking and driving. MADD spokesperson Emma Dugas is a featured guest this year.

Several fun, interactive activities are also planned, and visitors can learn more about tourism opportunities
statewide.

This event is part of TxDOT’s Holiday Impaired Driving public education campaign aimed at reminding drivers to drive sober or find a sober ride to and from festive events this holiday season. Impaired driving, especially during the holidays, contributes to the growing number of fatalities and serious-injury crashes on Texas roads each year, TxDOT officials said.

The Denison center is located at Exit 74 on US 75 north of Denison. Exit right and follow the signs to the center if traveling north from Denison; if traveling south across the Red River, exit from the right lane at the Texas-side of the Red River bridge.

TxDOT’s 12 travel information centers promote tourism to and within Texas, provide visitors with a vital rest stop, offer vending for snacks and beverages, serve as a Wi-Fi hot spot, and provide travel assistance from travel counselors. The centers and counselors create a positive first impression of Texas, help travelers choose travel routes, and provide detailed information on destinations, events and road conditions.
