Put on your walking shoes and get ready to travel back through time from Denison’s historic past to the haunted present. Be prepared to learn more about the spirits which linger in the shadows in downtown Denison and the true history behind the hauntings.
Come walk where history is still alive and there is a ghost around every corner. Every hair-raising tale is true and verified by one of Texoma's historians and author Natalie Clountz Bauman and is based on the stories in her local book series Red River Hauntings – True Ghost Stories Volumes 1-6.
We have three one- and one-half hour tours this year in Denison with some new information. We hope you will be able to sign up for all three for the full experience! The tours will be easy to walk and wheelchair accessible as they are on sidewalks outside, no buildings will be entered.
Denison Ghost Tour #1 - The Depot, will meet at the corner of Main and Houston in front of the Katy Depot at 101 East Main St. This is a one and one half-hour walk highlighting the history and hauntings of downtown Denison focusing on the old Katy Depot and the 100 block of West Main Street. This tour briefly covers some aspects of 100 E. Main Street, like the Traveler's Hotel and the Waples Platter Grocery Co.
Denison Ghost Tour #2 Raynal Tour, will meet at the corner of Main and Austin Ave in front of the Raynal Building at 202 W. Main. This is a one- and one-half hour walking tour highlighting the history and hauntings of downtown Denison focusing on the old Raynal Building and the 200 - 300 blocks of West Main Street. Come find out about Justin Raynal from the early days of Denison and the evil haunted "Bird Block" which was purged by fire.
Denison Ghost Tour #3 the Hotel Denison, Rialto Theater, the Barrett Building, Main Street Mall + much more! This is a one- and one-half hour walking tour highlighting the history and hauntings of downtown Denison. There are 3 different tours this year. This one covers the 400- 500 block of West Main.
All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, bring your jacket and umbrella if needed! Tours are not recommended for children under 12 years old. Parents are responsible for the safety and behavior of their children.
