Bonham, Texas -- On May 6, 2023, Bonham Police Officers responded to the entrance of Bonham Chrysler Dodge Jeep in reference to a man with a gun.

Officers arrived and were immediately confronted by a man that was armed and eventually pointed the firearm at the officers. Out of self-protection, Officers were forced to use deadly force against the individual to protect themselves or others from being harmed.

The result of the deadly force resulted in the individual being shot and killed. The Officer involved shooting was fully investigated by the Texas Rangers and the evidence was presented to the Fannin County grand jury on September 21, 2023.

After a full review of the evidence presented, the grand jury unanimously agreed that the use of deadly force by the officers was justified. Both officers have since returned to full active duty.
