Bonham, Texas -- Come to Bonham on Saturday, September 23, 2023, to join us for Farming Heritage Day at the Sam Rayburn House State Historic Site! This free event from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. will have farm animals, antique tractors and cars, games, and activities.

Bonham Fix & Feed will be at the Rayburn House to hand out free hot dogs to hungry visitors (while supplies last). We will also have bottled water for everyone thanks to a generous donation from the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance agents in Bonham. Everyone is welcome to learn about the role farms have in our everyday lives as they hear about an important figure in American history – Sam Rayburn.

The North Texas Antique Tractor & Engine Club and the Wylie Antique Machinery Society will exhibit their antique tractors, while the Red River Valley Car Club Association will bring a few vehicles to display. Local community organizations including the Bonham State Park, the Creative Arts Center, Fannin County 4-H, the Fannin County Amateur Radio Club (K5FRC), and the Fannin County Museum of History can’t wait to share information about all that Bonham has to offer its citizens. Area farmers and ranchers such as Cypress Lake Ranch, Doyle Hereford Ranch, and Maeder Agricultural & Livestock Services can share firsthand knowledge of a rewarding life on the farm.

The Dallas Handweavers and Spinners Guild and the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas are traveling up from the Metroplex to participate in the Farming Heritage Day fun. Make butter, ice cream, cornhusk dolls, and memories with friends and family during your visit!

While you’re here, we will have the first floor of the Rayburn House open for everyone to walk through. See antique furniture, a variety of dinnerware, and technology from yesteryear as you tour part of this 107-year-old home owned by the longest-serving Speaker of the House in U.S. history.

We are located at 890 W. State Hwy 56 in Bonham, Texas. Contact us at 903-583-5558 or Sam-Rayburn-House@thc.texas.gov with any questions you have.
