"Happy 150th birthday!"
Dodd City, Texas -- We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our founders: Edmund Hall and Elizabeth Garnett Dodd, Texas & Pacific Railway Company and the thousands of citizens during the last 150 years who have helped create our town. We ask a blessing on the present citizens who are shaping, and will continue to shape, our town in the future.
This picture was taken in the 1930s from the west side of South Main Street in Dodd City looking northeast:
1. The second hotel across what is now Hwy. 56
2. Depot
3. gas station
4. Livery stable/gas station across Hwy 56
5. Grocery stores, First National Bank, Post Office, Mason’s Hall and Hardware stores were just some of the businesses on the west side.*
There is a lot of history that is available to us online about our town and its people. Through the years the family stories that come out are amazing to put together.
