Ector, Texas -- Ector ISD announced a change to its policy for serving meals to the children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2023-24 school year. Schools qualifying to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
Ector ISD superintendent Jennifer Morris said, "I am very excited to offer free meals for our students next school year! Not having the financial burden of ensuring their children will receive nutritious meals every day at school is sure to take a weight off our parents. The implementation of free meals going into our 4-Day instructional week calendar are a couple of positive changes happening at Ector ISD. It's a great day to be an Ector Eagle!"
