Fannin County, Texas -- Senior Commissioner Jerry Magness presided over a regular meeting of Fannin County Commissioners Court held Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Commissioners Edwina Lane and A.J. Self were present; Fannin County Judge Randy Moore and Pct. 4 Commissioner Dean Lackey were absent. The meeting opened with an invocation by Cody Maxwell, and pledges were led by Commissioner Magness.

Bonham Fire Chief Scott Ridling presented the EMS monthly report for October 2022.

Chief Ridling said his department responded to 371 calls in October.

Bonham Fire Department (BFD) was expecting to take delivery of a new ambulance this fall, but Ridling reported he has been notified that timeframe has slipped 10 months. BFD has ordered another ambulance and the department hopes to have both ambulances in operation in 10-11 months.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved a preliminary replat adding 32.231 acres to The Shores at The Peninsula in Honey Grove.

Fannin County Commissioners Court set a speed limit of 30 M.P.H. on CR 1520 in Bonham, Precinct 1.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of a 2001 New Holland TL Tractor from Red River Tractor & Equipment for $21,000 for Precinct 1.

Fannin County Commissioners Court appointed two new members to the Subdivision Committee: Pct. 1 Commissioner Edwina Lane and realtor Maureen Henderson.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved the Auditor's Monthly Reports for October 2022.

Fannin County Commissioners Court tabled an agenda item regarding payroll deductions authorized in Texas counties.

Fannin County Auditor Alicia Whipple advised the court that counties cannot deduct from county payrolls unless the credit union pays an administrative fee to compensate for the transaction.

Ms. Whipple checked with other county auditors and found that most credit unions pay approximately $150 a year to compensate counties for payroll deductions.

A county representative will discuss this matter with the credit union and this agenda item will be addressed next week in commissioners court.

Approximately 39 active county employees currently have automatic payroll deductions to credit unions.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to approve reasonable continuing education expenses for newly elected officials prior to taking office January 1, 2023 per Local Government Code 152.907.

Ms. Whipple informed the court that reasonable expenses would included the cost of registration for mandatory continuing education courses, hotel expenses and mileage.
