Fannin County Commissioners Court recognizes deputy for life-saving action

Fannin County, Texas -- All five members of Fannin County Commissioners Court were present for a regular meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The meeting opened with an invocation by David Woodson, Fannin County Treasurer, and pledges were led by Fannin County Pct. 1 Commissioner Edwina Lane.

In October 2022, Sgt. McCann pulled an unconscious victim from a burning car after a wreck in Trenton, Texas.

In public forum, Tammy Biggar thanked everyone for their help during the recent election.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved payment of bills.

Fannin County Commissioners Court passed on an agenda item regarding Hunt Energy's interest in either leasing or acquiring one and one half acres of county property for a potential battery site.

Fannin County Criminal District Attorney Richard Glaser advised the court that securing a survey plat will be the next step in this process.

Mr. Glaser believes ongoing negotiations are progressing towards achieving this agreement.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved agreements with Frontier Communications of America to provide dedicated fiber internet access to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.

"I think this is something we've been needing for quite some time," stated Fannin County Judge Randy Moore.

In order to adhere to Texas Government Code §2054.5191, Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to enroll Fannin County employees [whose job requirements include a minimum of 25% of their time being spent on computers] into Cybersecurity Training for 2023 through the Texas Association of Counties and appoint Dustin Morrow, Fannin County Information Technology Director, to facilitate the training.
