Fannin County Commissioners Court sets tax rate

Fannin County, Texas -- All five members of Fannin County Commissioners Court were present for a regular meeting held Tuesday, September 13, 2022. The meeting opened with an invocation by Rev. Edwin Slack, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Trenton and pledges were led by Doug Kopf.

In public forum, residents were reminded that Relay For Life of Fannin County will be held Saturday at the Fannin County Courthouse.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to adopt the Fiscal 2022-2023 Fannin County Budget with the change of the $10.00 additional fee from Registrations by the Tax Assessor-Collector being divided evenly between the four Road & Bridge Precincts.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to adopt the 2022 tax rate of $0.435213 for Fannin County.

Last year's rate was $0.5341.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved minutes from special meetings on August 30, 2022; September 6, 2022; and a regular meeting held September 6, 2022.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to approve Fannin County’s time periods, pay dates, Commissioners Court dates and holidays for calendar year 2023.

Fannin County Commissioners Court approved the Treasurer's Financial Report, as well as the Treasurer's Investment Report for August 2022.

After a lengthy discussion regarding the purchase of 12 boxes of Kleenex for use by the public, Fannin County Commissioners Court eventually voted to approve the purchase of Kleenex for customers to use at the Fannin County Tag Office.

The original request for this purchase was denied.

"If this is all we have to worry about, then we don't have much to worry about," remarked Pct. 4 Commissioner Dean Lackey.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to approve an agreement between Fannin County and TMC Bonham Hospital for Indigent Care services.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to purchase an 8.5 ft. Road Groom for $18,868.00 for Precinct 1; to be paid from Purchase of Equipment (210-621-5710).

Fannin County Commissioners Court passed on an agenda item regarding the partial closure of CR 4975 in Blue Ridge; east end of County Road 4975 where it intersects with County Road 4910, approximately one mile of closure.

Fannin County Commissioners Court passed on an agenda item regarding the partial closure of a road in Randolph; closure to begin at Business 121 North heading north on South Dillard Street for 235 feet, making South Dillard Street a dead end road.

Fannin County Commissioners Court discussed the installation one-way signs or traffic-flow arrows on the pavement to make sure vehicles proceed in the proper direction.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to accept submissions regarding RFQ 2022-801, Engineering Services for Subdivision Regulations.

Fannin County Commissioners Court passed on an agenda item regarding a quote from Four Feathers Alarm for keyless access control/entry for Justice of the Peace Precinct 3; $5,353.95.

The Office of Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 collected $5,001.00 in August 2022.

The Office of Fannin County District Clerk collected $19,076.09 in August 2022.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to approve Auditor's Monthly Reports for August 2022.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to approve the second contract renewal term with Appriss Inc. through August 31, 2023 with regards to the Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service (SAVNS) program.

Fannin County Commissioners Court voted to pay bills.

Fannin County Commissioners Court went into executive session at 9:42 a.m. to seek the advice of its attorney regarding: (A) pending or contemplated litigation; or (B) a settlement offer; or (2) on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with this chapter – regarding subdivisions.

Fannin County Commissioners Court reconvened in regular session at 10:35 a.m. to announce that no action will be taken.

Discussions centered on the evolving subdivision situation.
