Bonham, Texas -- Bonham Mayor H. Compton presided over a special called meeting of Bonham City Council held Monday, March 21, 2022, with councilmembers Michael Evens, Kevin Hayes and Wayne Moore in attendance; Bill Chapman and Timothy La Vergne were absent.
Bonham City Council voted to approve a bid by Timco Services totaling $6,986,238.39 for construction of water lines in bid schedules 2 (in full), 4 (in full) and parts of bid schedule 1 (line 4A, 4B, 6 & 10) as part of the 2018 TWDB DWSRF Water Distribution System project.
The City of Bonham awarded wastewater infrastructure improvement bids last week and this latest decision Monday evening is a continuation of work associated with a $15 million low-interest loan from Texas Water Development Board.
The bids call for construction of water lines in the vicinity of Island Bayou and Cedar Street, as well as deliver water to a tract of land on the southeast corner of the intersection of U.S. 82 and Hwy. 121 North that is ripe for development.

"That is a critical-need area with a substantial amount of raw land to be developed," remarked Bonham City Manager Sean Pate, adding that the developer has four solid contracts lined up, but is in need of access to city water.

In other action at the special called meeting Monday, Bonham City Council voted to approve a preliminary plat and to establish zoning to single family residential for a plat submitted by Brian Simpson located out of the O. H. P. Wood survey, Abstract Number 1194 being a tract of land conveyed from Billy Hughes and George Hughes as Joint Independent Executors of the estate of Charlie Howard Hughes. This is located on Silo Rd at County Road 1544 being PID # 86754.
The development is platted for 150 homes.
Rusty Deets addressed city council regarding the need to improve the condition of Silo Road.
Mr. Pate stated that Silo Road has an 80-foot right-of-way and a preliminary study to improve Silo Road is in the works.
