Fannin County, Texas -- In an attempt to mitigate the threat of dangerous, fast-moving grassfires brought on by extremely dry conditions and wind, all of Fannin County is now under an outdoor burn ban.

That decision came Tuesday morning, February 15, 2022, during a regular meeting of Fannin County Commissioners Court.

County fire departments have responded to 12 fires in the past week.

Forecasted precipitation on Wednesday is not expected to be enough to alleviate the current danger.

Commissioners Court will revisit the countywide burn ban on February 22.
