Bonham, Texas -- Bonham City Councilmembers for Ward No. 2, Ward No. 3 and Ward No. 4 are unopposed in the May 7, 2022 general election, with the only contested race being for Ward No. 1. Candidates interested in representing Ward No. 1 have until 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 7 to file with Bonham City Secretary Heather Stockton. As of press time Friday morning, two candidates -- Tony Rodriguez and John Burnett -- have filed to run.
The special election for Ward No. 1 will be for a one-year term that opened up when David Odom resigned.
Timothy La Vergne II currently represents Ward No. 2.
Wayne Moore currently represents Ward No. 3.
Bill Chapman currently represents Ward No. 4.
La Vergne, Moore and Chapman will continue representing their respective Wards for full three-year terms.
Early voting is set for April 25, 2022 through May 3, 2022 during normal business hours. The Roy V. Floyd Community Center, 1100 W. 5th St., will be the polling place for both early voting and Election Day voting on May 7.

The two days designated for extended voting hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. are April 28 and May 5.
According to the city charter, any registered voter in the City of Bonham can always vote for any position on city council.
