Honey Grove, Texas -- On Saturday, October 30, 2021 the Honey Grove Warrior Band from Honey Grove, TX won the 2A UIL Area B Marching Championship by receiving all 1st place rankings from all five judges making it a clean sweep. This victory for the band secured a place into the UIL State Marching Contest on November 9th in the San Antonio Alamodome.
This makes back-to-back trips to the state contest as the band placed 13th in last year’s contest and hopes for a higher placement this time. Among the band’s accomplishments prior to this, the band received a Division 1 rating at the UIL Region 25 Marching Contest on October 18. They also attended the Celina Pre UIL Marching Festival where they won 1st place in Class 2A and trophies for Best Music, Marching, Color Guard and Percussion.

Their band directors are Nick Stephenson, Mikayla Stephenson and Bryce Leonard and the band is under field direction of Drum Majors Brinkleigh Mayberry, Jordan Woods and Diego Maldonado.
The band directors are extremely proud of the band as they performed a show of higher technical demand in music and marching than last year during a season in which the band nearly doubled in size and also encountered nearly half the band quarantining due to covid at some point during the season.
This group of students could have given up many times throughout the season but kept fighting until the end which has paid off with this recent birth to the state contest.
