Anna Fire Rescue Officer to take part in leadership program

Anna, Texas -- Anna Fire Rescue is proud to announce that Captain Cody Nelson has been recently selected to participate in a prestigious leadership program. The Fire Service Chief Executive Officer curriculum, offered through the TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute, begins next month and Captain Nelson will be attending. Admission to the program is on a competitive basis through an application process.

This executive leadership capstone comes at a perfect time for Captain Nelson as Anna Fire Rescue begins implementing their first ever Battalion Chief rank later this month.

Delivered by professors from the Texas A&M Mays Business School, the specialized training provides advanced professional development directed at sharpening the leadership skills of executives within the fire service. The program also aids fire commanders gain a broader perspective of executive level challenges as they interact with business professors, corporate leaders, and fire chiefs from around the state. Attendees also learn about creativity and innovation, managing change and transition, media relations, and stress management.

“This program is an excellent opportunity to elevate current and future leaders in their professional growth. It addresses the many challenges of executive leadership, finance, ethics, strategic management, and organizational planning,” said Anna Fire Chief Ray Isom.

Anna Fire Rescue is committed to growing new leaders in the fire department and our community. Funding for the training was awarded through a Texas A&M Forest Service grant.
