ERCOT puts all utilities across the state on standby for rolling blackouts over the weekend

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages scheduling on an electric grid carrying 90 percent of Texas' load.

Fannin County, Texas -- Fannin County Electric Cooperative is advising its members that ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) has put all utilities across the state on standby for rolling blackouts over the weekend because of the forecasted frigid temperatures.

If ERCOT directs Fannin County Electric Cooperative to initiate the blackouts, Co-op personnel will have one hour from the time of notification to start shedding electrical load across various parts of its system in 15-minute increments, with 2-3 hours in between outages. 

Fannin County Electric Cooperative will update its Facebook page with a post if the Co-op forced to take action. 

Fannin County Electric Cooperative is asking that all members be as conservative as possible during this cold weather to help avoid the need for the blackouts.
