Merit, Texas -- Playing on the road against the top team in the district, the Honey Grove Lady Warriors got off to a good start before the second quarter turned the tide in favor of the Bland Lady Tigers.
Honey Grove had a 10-8 lead as the first quarter ended, but Bland put together a 13-2 run in the second period to give the Lady Tigers a 21-12 advantage at halftime.
The Lady Warriors battled back in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigers, 11-6, to trim Bland's lead down to 27-23 as the third period ended.
Playing against a stingy Bland defense, two Lady Warriors put up double digits, with Prisella Reyna's 11 points leading the way and Aniyah Smith was close behind with 10 points.
Allie Towery scored seven, Shakira Cooper contributed three points and Ty'Ciera Battle tossed in two points to round out the scoring for Honey Grove.
For Bland, Hughes scored a game-high 17 points, Lahvic and Alonso both dropped in a dozen points, Lopez had three points and Elias put up two points.
