Outbreak of COVID-19 at Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home results in five deaths

Bonham, Texas -- An outbreak of COVID-19 at Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home in Bonham has resulted in five deaths, according to a spokesperson for Texas General Land Office, which operates the facility.

There are currently 28 COVID-19 positive patients at Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home and six COVID-19 positive residents are now at outside medical facilities.

To date, a total of 50 residents of the veterans home have tested positive and 34 staff members have tested positive.

Ten members of the staff are currently positive; 24 staff have recovered.

Seventeen residents have recovered.

Staff currently testing positive for COVID-19 are not permitted in the facility under any circumstances.

The five fatalities related to COVID-19 occurred between October 7 and October 22.
