Bonham, Texas -- A celebration of life for Charlie Howard Hughes, 83 of Bonham, Texas will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Fannin Memorial Garden.  Bro. Gene Owen will officiate. Charlie joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, August 31, 2020 during his stay at Texoma Medical Center Denison, Texas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Bonham, TX.

Charlie Howard Hughes was born in AR on September 10, 1936 to Charlie Matthew and Jeanie (Beard) Hughes. He was a diver during his service with the United States Navy. After the Navy he taught diving and helped the Sheriff’s office with dives when needed. Charlie loved hunting and guns. He was an excellent sharpshooter; he could use a bow and arrow with fishing line to harvest squash.

Charlie was a very generous and big hearted person; he was very helpful to anyone that needed help. He was a jack of all trades and a self-employed farmer. Charlie was a loving brother, uncle, and friend and is of the Baptist faith. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by siblings, George Hughes and wife Barbara of Dodd City, TX; Billy Hughes and wife Nancy of Henderson, TX; Roy Hughes of Bonham, TX and Mary Phillips of San Antonio, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
