Bonham, Texas -- The weatherman is calling for clear skies and temperature near 100 degrees on Friday -- a perfect day for children to cool off in the recently completed splash pad at Powder Creek Park in Bonham.

A ribbon cutting set for 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 28 will officially open the splash pad.

The splash pad will be located on the southeast corner of Powder Creek Park -- east of Powder Creek Park Community Playground and south of the restrooms. Powder Creek Park is located at 400 South 5th Street in Bonham.

The splash pad was funded by community support with notable donors including Bonham Economic Development Corporation, M.W. & Fair Miller Foundation, First United Bank, Hope Concrete, Fix-n- Feed, Kwik Chek/McCraw Oil, Holiday Inn Express, Tractor Supply, Dairy Queen and Mac McIntosh.

Several local tradesmen (to be named in a subsequent article) also donated their time and talent to make this splash pad a reality.

A shaded pavilion for parents and guardians has been completed.

The sprawling Powder Creek Park complex contains a hiking path, community playground, picnic tables, public restrooms, benches and the remnants of a historic dam used by the railroad during the steam-engine era.
