Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 report

Austin, Texas -- According to the latest daily data release by Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas had 3,493 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 104 newly reported fatalities related to COVID-19 during the past 24 hours.

Statewide, there are an estimated 114,391 active cases.

To date, Texas has reported a total of 577,537 confirmed cases, with an estimated 451,776 recoveries and 11,370 fatalities related to COVID-19.

Texas hospitals currently have 5,186 lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients.

As of Saturday, August 22, the state's seven-day positivity rate was 16.24%.

Harris County reported 1,087 newly confirmed cases on Sunday.

In North Texas, Dallas County was advised of 224 new cases, Tarrant County had 215 new cases and Denton County was notified of 115 new cases

Hunt County had 11 new cases and Grayson County reported 10 new cases.
