Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 report

Austin, Texas -- Texas reported 9,042 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours and 313 newly reported fatalities related to the novel coronavirus in Thursday's daily data release by Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). That increases the state's death toll to 6,190.

According to the DSHS COVID-19 dashboard, because DSHS is reporting fatalities by date of death, the number of fatalities for recent days will continue to grow as more death certificates are filed for those days.

Statewide, there are an estimated 145,771 active cases, an increase of 1,832 active cases during the past 24 hours.

The seven-day positivity rate dropped to 12.55%.

Texas hospitals currently have 9,595 lab-confirmed patients.

To date, Texas has reported a total of 403,307 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with an estimated 251,346 recoveries.

Harris County was advised of 1,465 newly confirmed cases during the past 24 hours.

In North Texas, Dallas County had 789 new cases and Tarrant County reported 576 new cases.

Collin County was notified of 209 new cases in Thursday's data release, a single-day record for the county.

Denton County reported 123 newly confirmed cases, Hunt County had 25 new cases, Grayson County had 24 new cases, Lamar County had 22 new cases, Fannin County was notified of 10 new cases and Cooke County had seven new cases.
