The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) has chosen Dr. James Froelich, D.O., Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) as the Program Chairman of the AOA's 2020 national educational convention that will be held in Austin, Texas in October 2020.

This past weekend, some 14 constituent societies of the AOA came together in Chicago to start the planning process for delivering the very best and most relevant medical education to the various physician specialties that will be attending the AOA Austin convention, known as OMED 2020. It is the duty of the AOA to guarantee that the certified medical education offered to physicians adheres to the strictest national standards of the American Congress of Graduate Medical Education. Physician education is the highest priority of the AOA, the ACOFP and the other constituent societies of the AOA presenting Osteopathic Emergency Medicine physicIans, Pediatricians, Neurologist and Psychiatrist, Physical and Rehabilitation specialist, specialists in Addiction Medicine, Obstetricians and Gynecologists and specialists in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine from the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO).
During each OMED the different societies try to place before their members the very best and most contemporary speakers so that the doctors attending remain informed and on the cutting edge of rapidly changing medical knowledge. Hot topics discussed this past week included newest regimens and treatment options for diabetes, many facets and concerns surrounding medical marijuana, solutions to the so-called "Opioid Crisis", the dangers and concerns surrounding vaping and many other contemporary issues.
Dr. Froelich has been a major part of the direction of medical education in the ACOFP since 2006 when he became a member of the ACOFP's education Program Committee. In 2009, he was responsible for securing more than 30 speakers for a national seminar for over 1,000 Osteopathic Family Physicians in Las Vegas. His new position as the Program Chairman of the AOA's annual convention will entail the overseeing of educational programming that will be offered in Austin to about 2500 Osteopathic physicians and students. This past weekend in Chicago, Dr. Froelich told the group gathered that he would do all in his power to assure that the Austin educational and social experience will be memorable to all national attendees and that they will all be inundated with true Texas friendliness and hospitality.
Dr. James Froelich, D.O., FACOFP practices a high level primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention program and has been in private practice in Osteopathic Family Practice since 1982 when he returned with his wife, Dr. Deidre Lumpkins Froelich, PhD., to her hometown, Bonham. Dr. and Dr. Froelich raised their two children here, and Dr. James Froelich is in his 37th year in a medical practice that he says is a joy and, "makes me happy everyday." Dr. Froelich has practiced all 37 years of his medical practice at the same location of 2105 North Center Street in Bonham.
