Bonham, Texas -- The process to select a new head football coach at Bonham High School moves into a critical phase with interviews to be conducted December 10 and December 11.

Bonham ISD posted the job opening November 14, 2019, and 116 applications were received and subsequently reviewed by a selection committee comprised of five Bonham ISD administrators.

Sixteen applicants were screened over the phone, which has led to 10 interviews to be held on December 10 and December 11.

If needed, call-back interviews will be held the week of December 16.

The selection committee's recommendation will be presented to the BISD Board of Trustees as soon as possible, with hopes for a January start for the new head football coach if all runs on schedule and he is allowed to leave his school district right away.

"My top priority is to select a gentleman who wants to Bleed Purple and is excited about growing our football program into a playoff contender in the very near future," states Bonham ISD Superintendent of Schools, Kelly Trompler. "I am excited about the applicant pool and am confident we will have our next Bonham Purple Warrior head football coach in place soon!"
