Sherman, Texas -- For the fourth year, on December 14 the Music Department of Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the Old Iron Post will bring a free Christmas concert to the Grayson County Courthouse steps in historic downtown Sherman. Think Tuba Christmas, but with all instruments.
Musicians of all ages and skill levels are invited to play as a part of the group. The size of this group has grown every year since inception. Musicians will gather for rehearsal at 4:30 on Saturday, December 14 at 118 W Pecan Street in downtown Sherman. At this time, they can also decorate their horns with Christmas decorations in preparation for the concert. Band leaders are invited to bring a group and join up. Musicians may contact Tristan Eggener at teggener@se.edu for more information.

At 7:00 p.m. these musicians will bring all the favorite Christmas songs to people gathered to listen. Those attending the concert should bring blankets and/or lawn chairs to this free family-friendly event.
The music education students from Southeastern Oklahoma State University will also provide a musical petting zoo which provides an opportunity for children to pick up and try a variety of instruments after the concert. Several beginning band students have made their decision as to which instrument they want to learn to play after attending this event.
Playing the band is fun as is listening to great Christmas music, and both will put you in the Christmas spirit. It also gives you an opportunity to take a stroll around downtown and possibly enjoy one of the downtown eateries. You can find more information on Facebook by searching for Christmas Thunder 2019.
