Bonham, Texas -- Graveside services with military honors for Archie Griffin, 78, of Telephone, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Gum Springs Cemetery near the Carson Community. Bro. Kevin Towery officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Mr. Griffin passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Honey Grove Nursing Center.
Archie Erwin Griffin was born on August 11, 1941 in Littlefield, TX to Willie E. & Eva (Bagwell) Griffin. He married Barbara Nell Leopard on February 18, 1963 in Durant, Oklahoma; she preceded him in death on July 3, 2017.
Archie graduated Valedictorian from Independent Baptist College along with his wife Barbara who graduated Salutatorian. He could read and write Hebrew and Greek and was bilingual and could speak Spanish fluently. He served honorably in the United States Navy. Archie was a lineman and heavy equipment operator working for Texas Power and Light (TP&L) and Weir Brothers Construction.
Archie had a strong walk with the Lord and had pastored several Independent Baptist Churches, and he dearly loved his family. He especially enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and playing golf. Archie had a strong work ethic and passed that ethic on to his sons.

Archie is survived by his three sons - Lawrence Griffin of Telephone, John Griffin of Telephone, and Daniel Griffin of South Carolina, and his sister Willow Fay Draine of Garland.
Along with his parents and wife, Archie is also preceded in death by his siblings, Avon Griffin, Freda Griffin, James Griffin, Bruce Griffin and Neda Griffin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Medcalf, Johnny Cravens, Steve Idell, Kyle Wallace, Paul Wallace Jr., and Steven Idell.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 30 from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.
