Sherman, Texas -- The recent devastating fire in downtown Denison left three families without their loft living spaces and, in one case, also destroyed their workspace.

On Monday, October 28, beginning at 5:30 p.m., real estate agents Eric Rhoades with Ebby Halliday, and Jeff Dowden with Re-Max, will serve as celebrity bartenders at Old Iron Post during a benefit event for those fire victims.  Rhoades and Dowden invite everyone to don their Halloween costume and come on down for a great night of “Spirits & Spirits” filled with special drinks, a special menu, a raffle, a silent auction, a Thriller Dance-off and fun.

For each guest in costume, Rhoades and Dowden will donate $5 to the cause to add to the other money raised during the evening through proceeds of the drink specials and special menu items.   Old Iron Post Celebrity Monday coordinator, Lauren Sims said, “OIP has been doing these charitable events once a month for almost two years, and they are so much fun – getting lots of people from the community together to support a cause, eat great food, drink specialty cocktails and have someone from another walk of life learn what it means to tend bar.  These families lost so much in that fire and we are really excited to try to raise some cash to help them out.”

Sims and Luis Herrera, both bartenders at Old Iron Post, work during Celebrity Monday events, donating all their tips to the cause.

One of the owners of Old Iron Post which is located at 101 N. Travis Street in downtown Sherman, Sherry Little, said, “We are happy to help out those families who are suffering because of the downtown fire in Denison.  Historic downtowns such as Sherman and Denison, almost always include older buildings, sharing common walls, and the risk of such a disaster.  It’s heartbreaking that it happened and so significantly impacted these folks.  I do hope that everyone will dress up and come out to help raise some money, but costumes are not mandatory to be a part of the fun – all you need is a great spirit of community.”
