With the current Methodist sanctuary still in use—although updated in the last ten years—how has the Church extended its outreach?

The Family Life Center was on the congregation’s bucket list long before it was a reality. Based on the generous bequest of Clarence White, the church as a whole contributed to it becoming fact. More than its mere physical being, the concept of community was brought into play. A popular program, KOOL (Kids Of Our Lord) After School, gradually morphed into the KOOL lunch summer program which serves children during the summer break. With a pancake breakfast served on Sunday mornings, active mission work from the women of the church, and partnerships with Finley-Oates Elementary School and Hope Supply Company, the First United Methodist Church continues its legacy of service.

In these last years, the church has welcomed women to the pulpit. Dana Coker, current pastor, is the third to serve.
