Bonham, Texas -- A Bonham man was shot twice after confronting two suspects he caught breaking into his girlfriend's car.

William Callas, 65, of Bonham was returning to his townhouse in the 1900 block of Albert Broadfoot Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018, when he witnessed two black males breaking into his wife's car. Mr. Callas grabbed an unloaded pistol and confronted the suspects in an attempt to run them off, however one of the suspects fired four shots with a .40-caliber pistol, wounding Callas in the knee and hip.

One suspect was wearing a plaid jacket and the other suspect was wearing a gold-colored jacket.

Both suspects left the scene running south.

A neighbor notified Bonham Police Department after hearing Callas scream for help.

Callas was airlifted to Medical Center Plano where he underwent surgery Tuesday morning. No report of his condition was available at press time.
