Honey Grove -- Cool autumn weather graced the annual Davy Crockett Day celebration in Honey Grove and in Bonham hundreds of bicycle enthusiasts pedaled out of town on a brisk morning to participate in the 29th annual Autumn in Bonham Bike Rally.
The red brick streets of historic downtown Honey Grove were lined with vendors as residents and visitors took advantage of pleasant temperatures in the 70s Saturday morning to shop, listen to live music, check out vintage automobiles, and sample festival food.
This was the perfect opportunity to pick up some locally produced honey while visiting an area where Davy Crockett found bountiful honeybee hives in a grove of trees 182 years ago as he made his way to the Alamo. The town that prides itself on being "The Sweetest Town in Texas" certainly lived up to its billing during Davy Crockett Day on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, as the 29th annual Autumn in Bonham Bike Rally got underway, waves of bicyclists rode out of Bonham early Saturday morning on a variety of routes that ranged from pedaling to Bonham State Park and back, to a grueling 100-mile ride.
