AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Association (TxHSA) will pay tribute to the life of Guy Clark, while honoring Tamara Saviano with its DKR Texas Music Legend Award on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Austin, Texas.

This evening will include a special performance in-the-round by a distinguished list of Texas songwriters and special guests, including: Terry Allen, Rodney Crowell, Joe Ely, Jack Ingram, Brennen Leigh, Bruce Robison and Verlon Thompson. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, January 20, 2017, purchased at austintheater.org, or by calling (512) 474-1221.

Every other year, the TxHSA honors those who have provided recognition and support to songwriters by presenting them with its Darrell K Royal Texas Music Legend Award. Coach Royal, the original recipient, spent years supporting and honoring songwriters, and the TxHSA proudly carries the spirit of his efforts forward, in his name.

The 2017 recipient, Wisconsin native and Nashville resident Tamara Saviano, is no stranger to Texas music. During the past two decades, Saviano has established herself as a tireless advocate of American music and its artists, notably working at length with Texas singer-songwriters Kris Kristofferson, Radney Foster, and the late Guy Clark. She is a GRAMMY-winning producer, publicist, manager, live concert producer, talent booker, and former music television producer and music journalist.

“I became familiar with the Texas Heritage Songwriters’ Association ten years ago when they honored my client Kris Kristofferson with a Hall of Fame induction. From the beginning, I have been impressed by the work they do to celebrate songwriters. It is my great honor to join a class of Darrell K Royal Award winners that includes Coach, Ray Benson, Stephen Bruton, Billy Minick, Danny King, Robin Shivers, Bill Mack and Jody Williams. Advocating for Texas songwriters has been my life’s work and I’m deeply moved by this recognition from the Texas Heritage Songwriters' Association.”
