Ronny Cox to appear on Saturday Night "LIVE" at Harmony House Concerts, July 9, 2016
"Most people know of my acting career, but not so many know of my life-long love and dedication to music. These days, I spend less time acting and more time as a singer/songwriter performing at folk festivals, concert venues and small intimate theaters all over the U.S. Music is my first love, and allows me a really special connection to audiences – a connection that works both ways," says Ronny Cox.

Ronny and his two back-up musicians will be playing two 45-minute sets with a 30-minute intermission on Saturday, July 9, '16, 7:30-9:30 p.m., right here in our home at Wildscape Acres, www.WildscapeAcres.com. Reservations are $20 per person with all proceeds going to the artist. Make reservations by calling 903/583-2661, leaving the number of reservations desired, your name, and your contact information (preferably e-mail addresses). To prepay, make your check to Ronny Cox and send to Faye Wedell; P.O. Box 812; Bonham, TX 75418, to be received by Tuesday, July 5th. Refunds will be made to anyone who cancels by that same date.
Ronny & Friends have played at Harmony House before to sold-out audiences, so a waiting list will be kept. Seating is limited to fifty persons. You can opt to pay at the door, but please be respectful of the performing artist and the hosts and either show up or cancel in advance. Cash or checks will be accepted, and a basket for all Reservation $$ will be provided on a table in the dining room. Ronny's CDs and other products will be available on this same table. Payment for them must be kept separate from Reservation $$, as indicated.
There will be an ‘Old-Fashioned Picnic’ potluck before the concert at 6:30 pm. Please indicate whether you plan to attend the potluck when you make reservations. If you know what you want to bring, it's helpful to let Faye know, so she can keep the menu varied. We know that all of you would prefer to just have homemade pies and cakes, but you're big enough to know that you also need your protein, fruits, and vegetables. In July, there should be an array of vegetables and fruits to choose from, so be creative as you like. Faye and Scott will be serving braised kale with garlic and bacon bits.
During the show and at intermission, Faye and Scott will provide bottomless cups of coffee, tea, lemonade, and fruit punches, plus ‘munchies’ for all. There will be a basket on the breakfast room table for optional $1 cash donations to help defray their expenses.
For any guest who wishes to jam after the show, just bring your instrument, voice, or ears. We can have a Song Circle to hear your original songs or old favorites. That can be a hoot!

Ronny’s big acting break was in the now classic film, Deliverance, released in 1972. It was not only his first film, it was his first time in front of a camera. Prior to this, he had done stage work in both Washington, D.C. and New York. Needless to say, being cast in Deliverance opened doors for him that he didn’t even know existed before. Ronny has had a remarkable run in a wonderful variety of films. In addition to Deliverance, there have been the critically acclaimed productions of Bound For Glory, The Onion Field, and Taps, as well as The Peabody Award-winning production of Thornton Wilder’s, Our Town for The Bell Telephone Hour. He was recognized with the British equivalent of the Academy Award for the BBC production of The Chicago Seven Trial.
Ronny has also had his share of “blockbuster” commercial successes, including Beverly Hills Cop, RoboCop, and Total Recall, in which he played men of authority and out-and-out villains. In addition, he has done countless TV movies, mini-series and TV series. He feels very proud of A Case of Rape, which he acted in with Elizabeth Montgomery. It was not only the highest rated TV movie for over ten years, it was also credited with getting landmark rape legislation passed.
Ronny Cox is a superbly talented singer-songwriter, musician and actor who has been consistently active in the music world and Hollywood for over 40 years. He was the third of five children, born in Cloudcroft, New Mexico in 1938, and grew up in Portales, New Mexico. Ronny met his wife, Mary, when in high school, and they married in 1960. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1963 with a double major in Theater and Speech Correction. Mary passed away in 2006, 50 years to the day of their first date. Ronny often talks about her during his music performances. A father to two sons of his own, he brings his extraordinary view of life into a magnetic, likable, onstage persona.
Ronny’s music is eclectic, a woven tapestry of songs and stories with an over-all arc that eventually comes together and tells something about “the human condition”. Scores of fans and promoters will attest that attending one of his performances is one of the greatest evenings to experience. With the gift of a consummate storyteller, he shares funny, sad and tender moments. His loyal band of listeners are blessed, if only for a while, to spend time with a truly remarkable man. Enhancing these great stories is the music provided by Ronny and his band of world-class, virtuoso musicians.
