Ector -- It was an exciting time at the Ector Santa Breakfast on December 5. Over 200 residents of our small town came bringing their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews dressed in their Christmas best to have their picture taken with Santa. In addition to the pictures there was a tasty pancake breakfast which is the best way to start a cold and bright Saturday. Once the pictures and dining were done, it was time to draw the lucky winners of this year’s bikes. The Ector Beautification Association sponsored the meal and pictures and Academy Sports, Sherman donated the bikes for the raffle.
A very happy Summer Simpson, age 5, won the beautiful girl’s bike and wanted to immediately go for a ride. I stopped her long enough for a picture. Her Mom said she has been riding a two wheeler for a while so no instruction was necessary.

The boy’s bike was won by JoAnn Large for her nephew Gage Brown. Both had already left the breakfast but Carter Whitburn was happy to act as stand in for the picture.

This raffle, the breakfast and the pictures with Santa are all fund raising efforts by the Ector Beautification Association for the new playground and park that are in the works. Ector residents have really pulled together to raise the funds needed and are gaining ground. If all goes according to plan they hope to start the park during 2016. Cheers for this civic minded association that is pulling the community together in such a positive way.
