Savoy -- The Savoy Cardinals had an outstanding showing last weekend at the UIL 1A - Region 3 Track and Field Championships held at Tarleton Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, TX. The two-day track meet saw great competition among the 53 schools participating as there would be many competitors who would go on to set season-best marks.

Among those performances, Savoy would have their fair share. The Lady Cardinal 4x400m Relay would go on to have a season best performance of 4:46.44 placing 4th overall. Junior Cardinal Alex Caldwell had a season best performance in the long jump with a leap of 20’0.25” and finished 4th place overall. Sophomore Sam Dugger would also have a season best performance in the Triple Jump with a leap of 40’10.5” to also receive a 4th place finish.
Also, among the outstanding list of performances turned in by the Cardinal track team, the 4x100m Relay would also see a season-best performance of 45.57 to seed them second going into the finals, in which they would have a near repeat performance to qualify for the state track meet. Additionally, Alex Caldwell advanced to the state meet in the 100m dash and the 200m dash. This is the largest number of athletes/events that Savoy has ever taken to the state track meet. The Cardinal Track Team finished 3rd overall among the 53 schools. Below is a complete list of finishes by the Cardinal and Lady Cardinal Track Teams:
