Bonham -- With the most exciting day of the year in historic downtown Bonham only two weeks away, Bonham Mayor Roy Floyd stopped by the Heritage Day Committee meeting this week to sign a proclamation formally declaring May 2 as Heritage Day in Bonham.
Heritage Day will feature a full day of family-friendly entertainment, including a Car & Truck Show, re-enactments by Sons of Confederate Veterans, Motorcycle Fun Run, Fannin County Fire Departments Rodeo, Wine Tasting, Lone Star Garden Tractor Pulling Association competition, music from the Main Stage on the northwest corner of the Bonham Square, Railroad Handcar demonstrations, Historic & Model Train Displays, and four sets of daring Motocross Jumps by Dan Weeks and friends.

A year of behind-the-scenes planning and coordination by the Heritage Day Committee promises excitement from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. While most events and entertainment will be centered around the Bonham Square, there will be a buzz of activity up and down South Main Street, from the historic railroad depot all the way to the town square. Classis Cars & Trucks will line both sides of the first two blocks of South Main Street. The garden tractor pull gets underway at 3:00 p.m. when Lone Star Garden Tractor Pulling Association hits the track just north of the depot. On the railroad tracks slightly south of the garden tractor pull area, there will be Railroad Handcar demonstrations. Also, don't miss your turn at the controls of the Historic and Model Trains set up in the east end of the depot. One of the finest small-town historical museums is located in the west end of the former depot.
