Student of the Month for April at L.H. Rather

Cole Owens was honored at the May Bonham ISD School Board meeting for being selected as student of the month for April.  Cole is an 8th grade student at L.H. Rather.  He is the son of John and Shannon Owens.  He has two older brothers.  Cole and his family live at Edhube.

Cole is in all Pre-AP classes and has been on the A Honor all year.  He is a member of the NJHS, student council, Band, and athletics.  He participated UIL Art Memory, Spelling were he received 4th place, Ready Writing, and Science.  Cole is an athlete who played football, basketball, and ran track.

The Bonham High School Jazz Band competed at the Collin County Jazz Festival in April, Cole was asked to play with them.  He received "All Around Outstanding Person" award at the Festival.  Outside of school Cole is a Star Scout and plans to get his Eagle Scout.  He is a volunteer for Relay for Life, has helped clean up camp sites, and was one of the scout volunteers that cleaned the black paper off the LHR parking lot at the beginning of school. Cole love to hunt and fish, ride 4-wheelers and do anything outdoors.

His future plans are to attend OU, to become a pediatric oncologist or engineer.

Cole's teachers express he is an excellent student, friendly and helpful to others.  He works hard and has a positive attitude. Cole is more than willing to do whatever he is asked to do and often sees a need and acts to meet that need.  He has a great sense of humor.

He is consistently the most polite and conscientious person in the room.
